EPSON USB Printer setup

This guide is focused on the TM-T88-V model but its likely a similar EPSON thermal printer model would follow the same steps. Please contact us if you are unsure of your printer model.

Ensure your USB printer is connected to the PC running Chippy, the USB printer's connection usually looks a little different to the standard USB port, it should look something like this:

Install the printer driver

You will need to retrieve the driver from the EPSON website here:

  • EPSON TM-T88V Drivers

This driver must be installed on the same PC that will be running the Chippy portal.

Follow the set up instructions to install the driver utility. Once the driver utility is installed, start it (EPSON APD5 - Register, change, or delete TM driver). Set the following under Communication Settings:

  • Port Type: USB
  • Port: Auto setup

Click Save Settings and then Test Print. Ensure the printer has printed something to confirm the set up is complete.

Start the Chippy print server

Download the print server from here:

Start the printer server. Windows might ask you to allow firewall permissions, accept and continue. The printer will not be exposed to the internet, it is only accessible within the network where the portal is running.

You should see this black screen once its running:

Set up the printer options for your store

Head back to the Chippy portal (on the same PC) and go to the store settings page:

Set the following values:

  • Receipt Printer Server Address: http://localhost:8080
  • Receipt Printer Address: printer:auto

Test it out!

Place a test order and head on to the kitchen queue. You should see now a PRINT button on your orders. Click it and check that the printer has printed the item.

You need to leave the Chippy portal running, while its running then it will print any new orders as they get pushed to the kitchen queue. You can always re-print your orders by clicking the PRINT button.
